History: The bamboo plant is the fastest growing woody plant on the planet. Some species grow as much as 1 meter/day and can reach heights of 60 meters. Most varieties can be harvested within 3-5 years versus a 10-20 year growing cycle for soft woods. The Asian countries have historically used the bamboo plants for animal feed, handicrafts, and housing. Its shoots continue to provide nutrition for millions of people worldwide and in Japan the antioxidant properties of pulverized bamboo bark have been proven to prevent bacterial growth and is used as a natural food preservative.

Dye ability: Bamboo yarns need less dye stuffs than cotton, model or viscose. The natural absorption characteristics of bamboo fibers causes them to absorb dyestuffs faster and dye deeper giving the fibers an even better "green" story.

Antimicrobial Properties: The natural bamboo plants are seldom eaten by pests or infected by pathogens. Bamboo fibers exhibit unique anti-bacteria properties scientists call "bamboo kun" and has been validated by the Japan Textile Inspection Association that even after 50 washings bamboo fabrics possess antimicrobial properties.

Synopsis: It is an extremely environmentally friendly fiber that is a great substitute for viscose or rayon fibers. The fabrics exhibit superb moisture absorption properties and are easily dyeable. The yarns also deliver a "soft" and desirable hand to the fabric, are naturally anti-microbial and a FANTASTIC GREEN STORY.
